Ruth, the Artist
Ruth Hopkinson completed her Visual Art Degree at the University of Victoria in 1989 after being accepted to both Emily Carr school of Art and an Art School in Paris. She paints primarily in Acrylic yet with an Oil based technique as she “Loves to see the Colors Dance” and so uses Glazes and Metallics to push the colours into each other often creating a softer, blurred edge to her works. For many years she considered herself a Painter where she focused primarily as a Portrait Artist. Today she lives in Sooke and chooses to follow her passion of Abstract Landscapes showing her gratitude and grace for choosing to live on the beautiful, magical Westcoast. Her focus today is to Create instead of just Paint and her landscapes are filled with the magical, whimsical images that she feels as she explores on her many hiking adventures with her Dalmatian Scarlet. She is available anytime for your Commission.
